Islandia Issue 7 is Here
We begin our third year of publishing with an update. Islandia is no longer a (sub)tropical periodical. We are now a (neo)tropical periodical. Details below on how to get it!
Though (sub)tropical technically included the rest of Florida, (neo)tropical was a more accurate marker for the Miami climate, where we publish. Also neo=new and new year - - > new us.
Now, for business:
Buy Issue 7 in the Islandia Journal Shop
While there, please consider purchasing an Annual Subscription. You get 4 issues at a discounted rate. If you become a paid subscriber to our digital publication here you will also be automatically enrolled as an annual subscriber. See here:
You might also consider grabbing some swag, like one of our ballcaps or tees!
What’s in Issue 7?
Our usually collection of South Florida + Caribbean themed myth, folklore, history, and ecology, including:
1) Never before published images of Old Stiltsville from the personal collection of Hallery Matson
2) An essay by Jake Katel about losing one’s head and biking down to the abandoned rocket facility in the Everglades known as Aerojet.
3) An essay about the Lougarou, aka the Haitian Werewolf and an accompanying illustration by Russell Beans
4) The launch of Islandia’s first ever Artist-in-Residence program
5) Oh, did we mention a poem by CAMPBELL MCGRATH?!?!!?
Well, that’s all for now. Holler at us on instagram, e-mail, or right here at this publication and we’ll get back to ya.
Support Islandia in our third year of publishing Miami folks. We appreciate it!
From the (Neo)tropics,
Jason
